Swarali is a Seattle based Marathi Music group formed in 2001 to promote local talent and to bring good marathi music for music loving audience. The group performs live music shows jam packed with melodious marathi songs both old and new, foot tapping and peppy songs as well as semi-classical songs intermingled with state of the art compering, funny skits and jokes. The group consists of talented singers & musicians and the originality of Marathi music is retained with traditional instruments like tabla, dholki, flute and santur while simultaneously entertaining the younger generation (Generation X) by sophisticated keyboards, drums and guitars.

The idea behind forming a group was to keep the Marathi culture alive in this software dominated world. Indians who leave India either in pursuit of their jobs or to settle down here in the United States, often feel nostalgic about the sites and sounds of India, fun filled moments they shared with their friends and family, going to orchestras and live music concerts, listening to smooth enchanting tunes and dance to the beat of popular Hindi-Marathi songs. Just to feed this nostalgia, Prasanna and his friends frequently jammed together. This passion for music became the seed which quickly grew into this fun filled entertaining group Swarali.

Swarali's musical journey began in December 2001 and its very first concert in Seattle in May of 2002 was a huge success. People not only enjoyed the show but requested to have more shows every year. Swarali has performed in Seattle every year since then to honor the public’s request. Swarali is now a well-known band not only in Seattle but also in cities across the U.S. in Oregon, New Jersey, New York, Illinois and Toronto.

In 2003, BMM (Brihan Maharashtra Mandal) invited Swarali to New York to perform in BMM Convention 2003. The band received a lot of applause from people around the globe. In 2004, Swarali performed for the 25th anniversary of the Marathi Vishwa organization in New Jersey.

Swarali's future plans are to perform in more cities in Washington state and other states as well and is looking forward to many more exciting events in the near future. We are considering performing in a charity benefit concerts and we think it would be extremely satisfying and fun entertaining people knowing that the proceeds from the concert would be used for a good cause.
